The GOAT of SA40k is taking a break! Let us give him his flowers.

Simon Vickers, the man, the myth, the absolute legend!

Where would we be without his watchful custodianship of the tournament scene in South Australia? Probably in the stone age, barely getting 10 players to a tournament on a Sunday at some blokes dingy shed. We'd all have tetanus and barely know anyone that doesn't live within 10 blocks of our nearest store.

He's given far too much of himself. Cultivating an awesome tournament scene that spans not only the greater Adelaide area, but as far as bringing great folks from all over the country to swing by Uprising. Adelaide has really become the place to play.

Let's talk Neophyte/Acolyte. the perfect set up that caters to players of all levels. Neophyte offers the perfect entry point for folks looking at getting in to, or returning to the tournament scene. Simon really has captured the perfect way to ensure a great experience for these players, making sure that they keep coming back to enjoy the festivities. Some have even made the leap to Acolyte to join us sweaty nerds in our pursuit of utter meta chasing nonsense.

Speaking of the sweaty nerds.... Acolyte. 3 rounds of nerdy gold. where the best players can battle for the trophies and the vouchers! Constantly testing Simon's patience with all the stupid rules interactions we can muster. Yet he always has a smile and a beer. *chef's kiss*

Oooft, vouchers, good lord the vouchers! I can never repay Simon enough for what he has given the store. When we first spoke I had barely heard of a "warhammer" and all HE had to go by was a recommendation by our friend Nathan Meech. Yet he put the faith in the store that we could grow with the tournament scene and provide the prizing that he needed to make the tournaments a continued success. The growth we've had because of these damned vouchers has been amazing.

...Uprising, Uprising, Uprising.... What an absolutely gargantuan task. Simon, Josh and Adam go through absolute hell every year to bring us the biggest and bestest tournament in the southern hemisphere. The work they put into that tournament cannot be understated and we should all be eternally grateful for the experience they give us every year.

Simon now takes a well deserved break from the running of tournaments. If I could I'd set up a 21 gun salute for him but for now lets all just raise a beer or 6 in honor of the work he and the uprising team have put in for a long ass time.

Hopefully we will see him again soon. Until next time I hope we will see him on the tabletop slinging those command barges around the place!

On behalf of the whole community, Thank you Simon Vickers and the Uprising team!
